Construction work on a new £32.9 million logistics park in south Birmingham has been completed.

GMI Construction has built the speculative project to regenerate the former home of GKN Aerospace and Pilkington Automotive in Kings Norton.

Called Urban 8 Logistics Park, it has 400,000 sq ft of space, ranging from 25,000 sq ft to 70,000 sq ft across 29 acres in Eckersall Road, and is set to attract 900 jobs to the area.

The project has been developed as a joint venture between Canmoor Asset Management and Tristan Capital Partners in partnership with regeneration specialists St Francis.

Simon Dale, director of operations at St Francis, said: "Working in a collaborative way the site team met all of the challenges that multi-unit schemes provide to deliver a high-quality development that matched everyone's expectations."

Adam Taylor, GMI's Midlands regional director, added: "It will significantly contribute to local employment and skills development while showcasing Birmingham's prominence in the logistics sector.
